With over six years of experience as a medical doctor and a recent Master's of Public Health (Global Health) graduate of Harvard University, I am passionate to use my expertise to improve health outcomes and access for underserved and vulnerable populations around the world. Highly motivated, multilingual and with experience studying and working in multiple countries and across varied settings, I am driven by a firm belief that our world can be fairer for all.
My competencies include: global health, public health, infectious diseases, HIV, sexual health, bioethics, education and foreign languages. I have strong quantitative skills and excellent writing skills in English and French. I am a medical graduate of Trinity College Dublin, with one year spent at the Université de Nantes in France on Erasmus and an additional semester spent at the Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal) in Barcelona as part of an intercalated Master's in Molecular Medicine, specialising in HIV research, in addition to a research followship at the Mayo Clinic, USA. I have trained as a medical registrar in Ireland (MRCPI in internal medicine). I have particular expertise in HIV, having worked clinically as an infectious diseases registrar in Ireland, undertaking national analysis of HIV community testing in Ireland through the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, writing my MSc. thesis on HIV, volunteering with community organisations in Ireland and Lebanon and gaining further clinical experience in Switzerland and Gabon. I also hold a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) with distinction, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
My passion for public health and infectious diseases is rooted in the health inequalities I witness every day as a doctor. Throughout my career, I have remained engaged in the community, volunteering with organisations including ShoutOut, ActUp Dublin and LebMASH. I have published multiple articles in national newspapers on the topics of health and human rights and also have multiple peer-reviewed publications. With a particular interest in the MENA region, I speak fluent Arabic (Lebanese) and have worked as a humanitarian doctor in Lebanon. In 2022, I was granted a prestigious George Moore Scholarship to undertake a fully paid Master of Public Health(MPH) in Global Health at Harvard University.
Currently working as a public health doctor, I am motivated by the opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with others, and to learn from diverse and multidisciplinary perspectives in the field of global health.
